Skywatch: a Sci-Fi short is great

The two kids in Skywatch are really good actors but… it’s Jude Law!

I accidentally stumbled on Skywatch while lost in YouTube. I get sent a lot of short films to promote but I have very limited time and rarely get round to watching them. I do occasionally but it really all depends on other work. Which I know sounds contradictory – essentially, I am busy but easily side-tracked. Ooh a squirrel.

I could explain more about Skywatch but there is a nice bit of blurb on YouTube that does all that for more. Please bear in mind that this is more a sort of long intro trailer / proof of concept type of deal. It is really good though, with superb effects and some great ideas. The two young actors are brilliant and it even has Jude Law (briefly).

The fact that this sort of thing is being made by normal people and that they have a place for people to see it, is awesome. On my other site, I recently wrote how I hoped that the game Dreams will do something similar for games and animation. Or even Kindle, allowing new authors to publish and get read. This is all a way for average people to say what is good rather than some knackered exec. It is allowing talent to be seen and the good stuff is promoted simply through people enjoying it. The Interweb is now the slush pile for creativity.

Blurb for Skywatch:

SKYWATCH is a sci-fi proof of concept written & directed by Colin Levy. Six years in the making, funded via Kickstarter, and crafted by volunteering artists across the world.

Starring young up-and-comers Uriah Shelton (13 REASONS WHY, LOOKING FOR ALASKA) and Zach Callison (STEVEN UNIVERSE, THE GOLDBERGS), the short also features a cameo by Jude Law.

When two outcast teens hack into a ubiquitous drone delivery system to pull a prank on their neighbor, they accidentally crash-land a dangerous prototype – and find themselves entangled in a life-and-death conspiracy.
