Tom Cruise in Space! Top Gun 3 anyone?
Tom Cruise has been in a ton of science fiction movies but as far as I can remember, he has only been into space once – near the end of [SPOILER] Oblivion. A hugely underrated film in my opinion. He’s not only famous for being in some great Scifi flicks, but he’s also legendary in his commitment to a role and willingness to do some bat-shit crazy stunts. The guy is awesome.
It was recently announced that he was teaming up with NASA and SpaceX to go into space and that was then confirmed by Elon Musk.

Now there is no mention what film it will be except that it isn’t a Mission Impossible. That was everyone’s go-to thought, including mine, as it would be totally imaginable that it would be a plot requirement for the franchise. It might not be science fiction either, it could be a thriller or Apollo 13 type deal. If it is Top Gun 3 then you heard it here first. I suspect it won’t be but as Mission Impossible is ruled out then that would be my next (and I’m completely joking) guess.
I suspect it will be a standalone film and will be a Gravity type deal but we shall see. There will be no running in zero-g, so I don’t know how they will get around that. If more people buy my books, I will see him up there. Oh and watch Oblivion, it’s great. Also, watch Edge of Tomorrow – it has nothing to do with Tom Cruise going into space but it’s such a great movie, you might as well.
