Adam Driver and Margot Robbie in Marvel’s Fantastic Four?

Marvel’s Fantastic Four casting has just leaked onto the internet. I can’t confirm how accurate this is, but if true, then count me in. Here’s the rumoured cast:

• Adam Driver as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic.

• Margot Robbie as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman.

• Paul Mescal as Johnny Storm/Human Torch.

• Daveed Diggs as Ben Grimm/The Thing.

If this is true, that’s one hell of an impressive cast. I really love Marvel, but since Endgame, I haven’t rushed out to see many of them in the cinema. The big exception was Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3, which I wrote about recently.

I’ve seen most of the Marvel films since then, and they were all fun. However, my excitement was waning.

After several failed attempts, it will be great to have a decent version of Fantastic Four finally. The ones with Jessica Alba were ok, but all I can remember about them is Jessica Alba. The rebooted Alba-less Fantastic Four was not great.

I obviously can’t predict that the Marvel version will be amazing, but comparing earlier efforts to pretty much any Marvel film over the last 15 years, I can’t help but feel optimistic. And if this ends up being the cast, my hopes are even higher. All four have incredible acting skills.

If true, it raises a lot of questions. How will they fit into the Marvel Universe? They aren’t mutants, so they might be a part of a future Avengers. Will Dr Doom feature? And will he finally be cool and mega-powerful like he is supposed to be? Only time will tell.

As things stand, Marvel’s Fantastic Four is due out in February 2025. However, it might face delays due to the current writers’ strike, (Which I fully support.)
