The Orville New Horizons gets exciting sneak preview
The Orville: New Horizons, as it’s now known for some reason, is almost upon us. The reason for the name change is that it is now on Hulu, rather than Fox. As both are owned by Disney, like most things these days, it seems a little unnecessary but I am struggling to care. I am just happy it is back. I love the Orville.
I remember many years ago, saying how the Orville looked like it might be fun. It was being advertised as a goofy comedy back then. Something that was taking the piss out Star Trek. Then, much to everyone’s surprise, it turned out to great alternative to Trek. Sure, the Orville has some humour, but it was also great science fiction.
I don’t know if New Horizons – aka Season 3 – will veer back to being dafter or will continue its journey of becoming a fun yet well-made scifi show. Going by the first few minutes that were recently released, it looks more like the latter. The clip was released by Seth MacFarlane who also explained the reason for the delay on his Twitter page.
“As occasionally happens, our show has been repositioned amidst the ever-changing television schedule landscape, which means that the wait will be just a bit longer, and we’re now preparing for a June 2 launch on Hulu.
“We’ve always promised you a television experience that will make it worth the wait, and we’re not wavering on that. We understand your frustration… so we want to give you a little taste of what’s to come. Here’s a sneak peek at the first few minutes of our season opener, and our new main title!”
I have to say, watching the clip fills me with the hope that the show will continue for many seasons. Orville: New Horizons is out on the 2nd of June 2022 and will hopefully be available on places other than just Hulu soon after.
