The first Ashoka trailer looks great

The first teaser trailer for Ashoka has arrived, and it looks great. Everything I was hoping it would be, and not just because I fancy Rosario Dawson.

Ashoka Tano is a fan favourite and has appeared in a ton of Star Wars series. Most recently, she was in the Mandalorian and the Book of Boba Fett. In the flesh, so to speak. Before that, she was in Star Wars Rebels.

Ashoka is a Jedi who dual-wields lightsabers because she is incredibly cool. What was surprising about the trailer is how many other well-known characters (if you watch Rebels) also feature. I read a Rebels book ages ago and wrote about the show in 2014, just before it was released, but am not an expert on the series. It is something I feel I should rectify. But I know enough to recognise Hera Syndulla, Sabine Wren, and Chopper.

Then, of course, there is a back shot of Grand Admiral Thrawn. It will be superb to see him live. As an added fan-boy bonus, there is a line mentioning ‘Heir to the Empire’. This is a lovely nod to Timothy Zahn’s absolutely superb Thrawn trilogy, which starts with – you probably guessed it – Heir to the Empire. It’s a superb series, and I highly recommend it.

An intriguing omission is Hayden Christensen. He said somewhere he would appear in the show, and I just double-checked IMDB, and he is listed as cast. I’m sure he’ll pop up as a Force ghost or something.
