The Boys season 2 gets a release date

I got Amazon Prime briefly last year and happened across The Boys. I wrote glowingly about it here. It is truly a brilliant show although I should also add that is is very much for adults. The above picture should give you an idea of the sorts of vibe you might expect.

If you missed it, go and watch it! If you want to know what it is about, then fine, I will do a quick recap. The Boys is set in an alternate reality where there are superheroes. Essentially, think Justice League. The show revolves around two groups – The Boys, who hate superheroes, and the ‘Seven’ who are an elite group of Supes. The Boys are led by Billy Butcher, played brilliantly by Karl Urban.

The show is based on the brilliant comic books written by the awesome Garth Ennis, who also did Hellblazer (as in John Constantine) and Preacher, all of which are really worth a read. Those are links in case you are interested.

Anyway, apologies. I should have mentioned by now season 2 of the Boys is due out on the 4th September 2020. Unlike season 1, where all 8 episodes dropped at once, this season will release three on the above date and then once a week. I guess it’s to keep things exciting or at least ensure that people keep Amazon Prime membership for more than a month. I guess that will include me as although I could obviously just wait till half of it has aired, I sadly lack that kind of patience.

So go and watch the Boys season one and then come back and check out the video below. It’s the first 3 minutes of season 2. There are a couple of trailers online as well. I can’t wait for this.
