Awesome new map of the entire Star Wars Galaxy

The official Star Wars Galaxy Map has been released by Lucasfilm and I have already spent too much time look at it. It’s interactive and has every system mentioned so far in the franchise – be that films, TV shows, books, comics, games, etc. As you can imagine, it is an epic amount of planets and systems.
You can find the full Star Wars Galaxy Map on the official Star Wars website – click here to check it out.
It also shows the different regions, like the Galactic Core, the Outer Rim, Bothan space and so on. I just spent ages trying to find Tattoine, as I assumed it was in Hutt space. (It isn’t.)
If you are Star Wars fan, it is definitely worth checking out. Apparently it was created to be an online companion for the book Star Wars: The Essential Atlas, but as that came out in 2009, it has taken a lot longer than expected.
When you look at it, you can see why. The Star Wars Galaxy is huge. It’s galactic after all. According to the site, this will be constantly updated, so when new stuff comes out you can check it out.
Finding planets is fun, although there are a couple of things to keep in mind
I love this kind of thing! Once I’d found Tattione, Coruscant, Corellia, and Kashyyk, I branched out. I found that At Attin from Skeleton Crew was near to Dathomir, for example. Which was surprising. A planet of American sububurbia, next to a planet strong with the darkside that I visited as Cal Kestis.
I don’t know how they are dealing with history, it seems they have just charted were everything is – or was. I noted Alderaan was there, for example. Also, they have listed the most known planet in the system, presumably to make it easier for people to find stuff. So places like Kamino aren’t listed. And, obviously, nor is Peridea as it is in another galaxy.
You can check out the map and the appendix thingy here on the Star Wars website.
If you like it and want more – Star Wars: The Essential Atlas (affiliate) has a lot of stuff and is highly reviewed.
