Star Trek: Of Gods and Men. Full film.
In a depressing age when there was no Star Trek on TV, a few plucky individuals have banded together to save us all. With internet Star Trek. I’m not sure how I missed this but here is a full length film and it’s really good! I know I have recently been promoting Star Trek Continues and their Kickstarter campaign to make more episodes (which is a great cause as it’s brilliant), but this is excellent professional Trek that deserves a watch.
It is made by Trek legends Walter Koenig (Chekov from Original Trek) and Tim Russ (Tuvok from Star Trek Voyager). There seems to be a ridiculous amount of other Star Trek actors in it as well. (See below the video where there is more info about the cast.) I post it now as they want to make a new one. More about that later but there is a mini trailer at the start of this film.
Here is the premise of Star Trek: Of Gods and Men:
Forty years after their first mission, Chekov and Uhura, along with John Harriman, former Captain of the Enterprise-B, come together for the dedication of a very special ship.
However, their reunion is cut short when they receive a distress call from an all-too-familiar planet, where they meet up with an almost-forgotten face, and in an instant something happens, or rather, doesn’t happen, that presses the three friends to embark on a mission that will forever change their lives…
I love all these new Star Treks. Thanks to technology the effects are pretty good; certainly a lot better than a lot of TV scifi when I was growing up. Also, the actors are easily as good as the original cast – or like here, the same actual cast as in the original shows. I’d like to say ‘Keep it up!’ but they already are. I will post details and trailer for their new movie kickstarter campaign in my next post.
So brace yourself and grab a Romulan ale. Here is Star Trek: Of Gods and Men. Engage.
Here is more on the cast:
The film stars Walter Koenig, Nichelle Nichols (Uhura and Chekov of the original series) and Alan Ruck (Captain John Harriman of the 7th Trek feature film, Star Trek Generations) along with Grace Lee Whitney (Janice Rand of the original series). Joining them are Garrett Wang (Star Trek: Voyager) and Ethan Phillips (Star Trek: Voyager as well as Star Trek: The Next Generation); Cirroc Lofton, Chase Masterson and JG Hertzler (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine), Gary Graham and Crystal Allen (Star Trek: Enterprise), Herb Jefferson (Battlestar Galactica) plus Tim Russ (reprising his role as Tuvok from Star Trek: Voyager), who also directs the film.
Producer Sky Conway and Deep Space Nine freelance storywriters Jack Trevino and Ethan H. Calk wrote OGAM. Director of photography is Doug Knapp. More than 50 film professionals (all Star Trek fans) have worked tirelessly to produce this labor of love! Originally released in three parts on the internet in 2008, this film is presented to you as a full 90 minute movie.
