Lego Star Wars Holiday Special is coming!

The Lego Star Wars Holiday Special has just released a trailer and it looks great. It comes as something of a bonus as I had no idea it even existed. I obviously know that Lego Star Wars is a thing because I have some and it is a thing of wonder and joy.

It looks like a lot of fun and as the Lego Star Wars films / shows / games aren’t canon, they can do what they like. Which in this case seems to be time travel.

“The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special” reunites Rey, Finn, Poe, Chewie, Rose and the droids for a joyous feast on Life Day. Rey sets off on a new adventure with BB-8 to gain a deeper knowledge of the Force. At a mysterious Jedi Temple, she is hurled into a cross-timeline adventure through beloved moments in Star Wars cinematic history, coming into contact with Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Yoda, Obi-Wan and other iconic heroes and villains from all nine Skywalker saga films. But will she make it back in time for the Life Day feast and learn the true meaning of holiday spirit?

Sounds fun. It also sounds and looks a hell of a lot better than the original Star Wars Holiday Special which I watched as a kid and had on VHS. As a child, I was obsessed with Star Wars and would hyperventilate with excitement if someone so much as played the theme tune in my vicinity. Even I hated the original Star Wars Holiday Special.

If you haven’t seen the original and hate yourself you can probably find it online. Don’t though. If you are feeling nostalgic for 70s space excitement that isn’t quite as good as original Star Wars you are probably better off watching old Battlestar Galactica episodes as I talked about last week.

Lego Star Wars has been consistently great and given previous Star Wars festive season competition, this will be one of the best. Or at least a lot of fun.
