Existential Troopers: the Mandalorian, is brilliantly funny

Existential Troopers was recommended by the all-knowing algorithms on YouTube. It’s a tad scary how correct they are because I absolutely loved this.

It features two stormtroopers who start to suspect they are in a simulation. And it is a simulation that is stacked against them. The evidence being that stormtroopers are supposed to be badass but are consistently defeated. Which is true.

Storm troopers are generally so useless it is suspicious

There is one argument against this in the original movie ‘A New Hope‘. Leia knew they were being tracked so that Vader and the Empire could find the rebel base. Consequently, all stormtroopers were ordered to miss. But that only applied in that film and only once they had rescued the princess.

Earlier when Luke goes back to find his aunt and uncle killed, Obi Wan even makes a point of saying how accurate the blast points were and how only imperial stormtroopers were that precise.

In all other films, stormtroopers are just shit with pointless armour. Their armour is so bad that they can be knocked out by a couple of rocks dropped by Ewoks.

Now Ewoks are cute and they are clearly more dangerous than they are given credit for. They kill and eat humans for one thing. In Return of the Jedi, Leia is given clothes that fit her and they seem to have multiple changes of wardrobe available. Her friends are then almost cooked alive over fires. It’s not hard to see what the Ewoks have been up to.

Even so, the whole fight on Endor is so unlikely, it points to something bigger. Like it is a fictional story or film or something. This is the long-winded introduction to what Existential Troopers is about and it is done really well.

This clip proved so popular, the creators from the Auralnauts channel did another. It features the ongoing adventures of the two ex-troopers as they try and break the program and get all existential and meta. It also has a superb musical bit which I immediately listened to again.
