Disney+ and Marvel new TV show trailers
It was announced a while ago that Disney+ was going to be showing some big Marvel TV shows and now there is a trailer combining the first three. Without trailers things feel merely hypothetical, so this is great and I am officially excited. It is also the start of a whole new phase of Marvel goodness.
Previously, uber-meister Kevin Feige was in charge of the movies and Jeph Loab was in charge of all the TV stuff and the differences between them where huge. This explains why it always felt like the TV shows were trying hard to link-in with the films, whereas the films never really gave a shit about the TV shows. That is all going to change as Kevin Feige has now become the ultimate overlord of all Marvel Entertainment. Consequently, the TV shows will now be a lot more tied in with the rest of the Marvel stuff.
In fact, they will tie in so much they may be essential viewing – especially in the case of Wandavision. More on that in a sec. First up is The Falcon and the Winter Soldier which will carry on the story after Endgame. As the trailer shows, this involves the Falcon learning the essential skill of chucking Captain America’s shield around, while Bucky just continues being kinda cool and intense. The other two trailers are for Loki and Wandavision. The former apparently involves some time travel shenanigans with the mischievous Loki from the original Avengers being all… mischievous. It is what he is the god of after all. In WandaVision some of the story takes part in her mind. Obviously it is all a bit confusing because why is her mind like a 50s sitcom and if Vision appears in it a lot, is he really going to be dead the whole time? WandaVision can’t all be in her head however, as it will tie directly into the next Doctor Strange movie. Intriguing.
What Disney and Marvel are doing is actually pretty cool. They are bringing in big name movie actors to reprise their roles for what seems like limited runs of six episodes. Which makes sense because most of the actors are pretty damned busy. So you get something longer than a movie but it should still feel like something proper in its own right, rather than a cheap spin-off thing. So think Mandalorian as opposed to Agents of Shield.
There are a load of new shows planned including She Hulk, Hawkeye (at least Brenner is getting his own show, if not film) and a load more. A good source for all this new Marvel and Disney+ goodness is Collider which lists them all.
This trailer aired during something called the Super Bowl and looks great (the trailer not the sport). It features the next three shows intermixed. Enjoy.
