Cyberpunk 2077 48 minutes of gameplay
I am not sure if I can maintain this level of excitement for a couple of years but if the trickle of Cyberpunk 2077 material so far is anything to go by, I think I can. And will. Excited!
Normally with game videos showing anything over a few minutes of gameplay, I skip ahead a bit and see if it looks like fun. This time, I sat back and enjoyed what felt like an episode of a great science fiction show. Again, I would normally be wary of a developer just showing the best stuff but this is from CD Projekt Red, the genius developers behind one of my all-time favourite games, Witcher 3. One thing that was such a joy with that game was that even the lowliest sidequest had such a great story behind it. I still remember some of them.
Sometimes you can raise your expectations so high you are bound to be disappointed – Phantom Menace, Tim Burton’s Planet of the Apes, the Mad Max game, any game that introduces microtransactions that affect how well you play, etc. Sometimes, things can be ridiculously hyped yet still somehow manage to live up to expectations – GTA 5, God of War 4 and Avengers Infinity War, for example.
Having seen this gameplay I am not worried that Cyberpunk 2077 will be a letdown. The only sad thing is that it won’t be out till 2020. If I could pre-order now, I would. Check it out:
